Church’s Chicken was started in San Antonio, Texas, by George W. Church, Sr. as a to-go fried chicken joint in the 1950s. But the 1960s, there were over 100 stores in seven states, and Church's became a publicly held company. In the 1970s, it opened its 1,000th location. Church’s was acquired by AFC in the ‘90s and relocated its headquarters to Atlanta, Georgia. 12 years later, the company was acquired by a private equity firm.

In the 2000s, Church’s Chicken’s global sales surpassed $1,000,000,000.

Church’s Chicken Menu Items

Church’s Chicken specializes in fried chicken. Menu items include Original fried chicken, Spicy fried chicken, boneless “wings,” chicken tenders, and a variety of chicken sandwich options. Sides include honey-butter biscuits, mashed potatoes with gravy, macaroni and cheese, jalapeno peppers, cole slaw, corn, and fried okra. Fried apple pie is offered as a dessert option.
