Scout Notes:We approve of healthy competition (and sometimes not-so-healthy, like quesadilla eating contests). We also (emphatically) approve of margaritas – more on that later. Luckily, in the name of competition, the A has enough Mexicano joints to let the really superb ones shine, like Chonas Mexican Grill of Lawrenceville. It might be slightly gringo-ized, but it's 100% delicioso. A favorite dining destination for families and couples alike, this nearly-six-years-old staple just moved to a brand spankin' new locale. And for you regulars out there? Never fear, the menu is unchanged. Favorites like the Tacos Tijuano and Burrito al Carbon still fly out of the kitchen to greet grinning guests. And the staff is pretty darn friendly too. In fact, that's one of the main reasons (plus la comida) that many of the familiar faces around here give Chonas their business. Oh, and those margaritas don't hurt. You might not expect this small, family-owned Mexican restaurant to be the home of some of the best south-of-the-border margaritas we can find north of 285. But then again, doesn't that make it the perfect crime? Señoras y señores, we present your new margarita destination. The recipe? They wouldn't even tell me. It's a house-made mix, that's all we know. And that it goes pretty fantastically with some of those burritos. For new-comers, a word to the wise: this joint fills up quickly, as will your belly. Menu Highlights: Margarita (with Corona), 10.99 Burrito al Carbon, 9.99 Tacos Tijuana, 8.99 Chonas Pollo Espinaca, 11.95 Chipotle Chicken, 10.99 Hours: Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
