The Destination Situated on a secluded 550-acre working ranch, with tree-lined hills and mesquite flats providing the backdrop, Cedar Mountain Lodge is at once rustic and sophisticated, a sort of luxury hideaway just 40 minutes southeast of Dallas. On-site, you'll find a variety of outdoor activities to keep you entertained, from zip-lining and fishing to hiking and bird watching. Heck, simply sitting in a locally crafted cedar rocking chair on the front porch is enough to keep you busy. In the heat of the afternoon, relax with a massage in one of the lodge's private health rooms, then pop a pizza into the wood-burning oven in the outpost building, and finish the night with a soak in the hot tub. Now that's a Texas good time. The Digs Tucked away in the canopy of large oak and pecan trees, the rustic Eagle's Nest Tree House features a huge porch that looks out onto the wildlife sanctuary and is appointed with a king-size bed draped in luxury linens, air-conditioning and heat, a TV with DVD player, a private bathroom with shower, a mini-fridge and microwave, a barbecue grill on the ground level, and rustic cedar rocking chairs on the three-sided porch.
