The first thing you’ll notice when walking into this Park Slope spot is that everything is fresh. On a sunny day, the front doors open up to Brooklyn’s bustling 5th Avenue, letting in fresh air and offering great people-watching—both things that have become rather dear to us. In the middle of the restaurant, a station piled with a mountain of avocados awaits. This is where servers prepare a new batch of guacamole right when it’s ordered, and they’ll even ask you what level of spiciness you prefer, so pick your poison, as it were. (Note: this is metaphorical poison.) The freshness carries through into the menu, where appetizers such as the Ceviche del Día (the fish of the day marinated in citrus juice with other zesty ingredients) pave the way for tasty tacos, like the Baja-style tilapia wrapped up in homemade flour tortillas. For the heartier offerings, don’t miss out on the expertly marinated Cochinito and Pato. The Cochinito is a slow-roasted suckling pig that’s equal parts juicy and flavorful (in other words, the stuff our dreams are made of), and the Pato? It's a rich duck confit expertly paired with a tangy kumquat salsa. Oh, and did we mention to save room for dessert? Even if you didn't have such foresight, the tres leches cake is totally worth stuffing your stomach for. Menu Highlights: Ceviche Del Día, $10 Fish Tacos, $10 Cochinito, $20 Pato, $20 El Diablito Cocktail, $10 Hours: Mondays - Fridays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
