Burger King’s History and Menu
Burger King, otherwise known as BK, is a renowned hamburger franchise worldwide. In 1953, Insta-Burger King, predecessor to BK, was established in Jacksonville, Florida by Keith J. Kramer and Matthew Burns. When Insta-Burger King encountered financial hardships in 1954, David Edgerton and James McLamore, bought the company and renamed it Burger King. Burger King would then change ownerships over the years until 3G Capital purchased it in 2010.
By 2012, BK has almost 12,700 outlets in 73 countries. Not only does the company expand, but so does its menu. BK’s menu is divided into three categories: breakfast, lunch and dinner, and snacks. In 1954, Burger King only offered burgers, soft drinks, fries and milkshakes, but now, BK has added to its menu a wider variety of food selection starting from Whopper, BK’s signature product, to sandwiches, burritos, oatmeal, sweets, sides, smoothies and frappes, to name a few of BK’s specials.
Since Whopper hit the market in 1957, it has always been a favorite of the regulars and is now available in a growing number of variations, hence BK’s popular tagline, Home of the Whopper.
