Scout Notes: Devin Cundall, owner of Brothers’ Pizza Co., isn’t one of those restaurant owners who always knew he wanted to go into the hospitality industry. In fact, prior to opening Brothers’, the majority of his career was spent in the IT world. Over the years, though, Devin had acquired the entrepreneurial itch, and when his employer began offering voluntary buyouts, he decided it was time to move his life into a new direction. While the plan was to take a year off, do some traveling, and contemplate his next move, one year turned into several as Devin explored the world doing missions work in underdeveloped countries. Inspired by his travels, Devin longed to open a business that would allow him to continue helping others, and in May 2007, Brothers’ Pizza Co. opened for business along with the restaurant’s Feed Yourself, Feed the World program. Basically, every time you purchase a Brothers’ pizza, a meal is sent to someone battling hunger across the globe. Pizza with a purpose? We dig it. While the reason for the restaurant was inspired by a higher purpose, we can't help but focus on something a little more, shall we say, secular? The hand- tossed, New York-style, oh-so-delicious pizza that comes from the kitchen at Brothers’ Pizza Co. is some of the best we’ve had. Everything on the menu— including the dough and sauce—is made entirely from scratch using as many local ingredients as possible. Of course, a classic pepperoni and cheese pie is always a good choice, but we highly recommend the Baldo Special (chicken, red onion, barbeque sauce, bacon, pineapple, and crushed red pepper) if you’re open to trying something a little different. Brothers’ also offers salads, sandwiches (we love the Chicken Caesar), and pastas, as well as gourmet gelato.
