Scout Notes: Bread-lovers, rejoice! There’s a new joint in Alpharetta that will have your taste buds doing a happy dance. Breadtime, a German bakery and Biergarten, is putting out legit German fare—everything from its namesake baked good, to homemade spatzle, bratwurst, cheeses, pies… and so much more. This family-run joint is sticking to their roots, making almost everything (from the bread to the brats) in house—they’re even sourcing the majority of their ingredients from the fatherland. And whatever they aren’t procuring from small production farms in Europe, they’re getting local and organic from right here in the southeast (apples from north Georgia, peaches from South Carolina, even cheese from local dairies). And while the bakery at Breadtime is second to none, you’d be remiss to not partake in the long list of Bavarian libations and the impressive dinner menu, jam-packed with even more homemade deliciousness. German lagers, pilsners and hefeweizens complement a heaping portion of spatzle or a plate of perfectly fried jaeger schnitzel. If you’re chowing down on the Breadtime Platter (an expertly curated meat and cheese platter, served with homemade bread, of course), maybe a nice glass of (organic) German or Austrian red? Whatever you choose, you’re not going to be disappointed, and you’ll probably be loosening your belt. So come for the bread. Stay for the beer. And grab a few shortbread cookies for the road (you’ll thank me). Menu Highlights: Breadtime Platter (Brotzeit), $15.00 Fresh Homemade Spatzle, $15.00 Jaeger Schnitzel, $17.00 Pretzel Crusted Crab Cake, $16.00 German Bratwurst, $12.00 (for one), $14.00 (for two) Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:30am – 9:00pm Friday – Saturday, 7:30am – 10:00pm Sunday, CLOSED
