Bravo Gelato & Christie Cookie Coupons and Deals
Scout Notes: For a long time, we didn’t know much about gelato. Except that it’s delicious. Like, really delicious. We’ve since learned (thanks to our new friends at Bravo Gelato) that because gelato is made with milk rather than heavy cream, it’s half the fat of American ice cream (sign us up for another scoop then!). And due to the slow churning process, gelato has less air than traditional ice cream, giving it a dense, silky texture and maximum flavor. Bravo Gelato owner, Christie Hauck, fell in love with gelato in 2000 while he and his wife were vacationing in Italy. After discovering what he said was the greatest ice cream he’d ever tasted, he knew he had to find a way to bring quality gelato to our fair, and at the time gelato-less, city. But if Christie was going to do it, he wanted to do it right, and so he located the finest flavor company in all of Italy and, after much convincing, finally got them to agree to sell to him. Christie also uses Italian equipment and purchases dairy products from from Hatcher Family Dairy—little things that make a huge difference in quality. Now, as far as flavors go (they have over 200 of ‘em so get ready to sample—it’s encouraged!), we’re big fans of the salty caramel and banana’s foster. The flavors do change daily, but they always carry the classics, like chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.
