Tenzin earned his B.A. in anthropology from the University of Minnesota and is a graduate student in public health at the University. Together with the MTK and international colleagues, Tenzin has conducted research and published scientific papers about Tibetan Medicine. In 2001, he was awarded the Gold Medal by the Indian Board of Alternative Medicine for his research and promotion of alternative medicine. He translated and edited the nutritional textbook, "Tibetan Medical Dietary Book: Vol. 1 - Potency & Preparation of Vegetables," by Dr. Yangbum Gyal and published by the MTK in 2006. For the past 15 years, he has done Tibetan medicine consultations in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the U.S.
