Scout Notes: We always thought of Benchmark as more of a tourist destination. While the weekends are indeed populated with foot traffic from tourist-ridden Broadway, this downtown restaurant/bar has become one of our favorite weekday lunch/dinner destinations. Located in a historic building on 2nd Ave., Benchmark’s menu, which was revamped in September, offers all the lunch/dinner basics, as well as a few specialty entrees, like spicy chicken mac and cheese (our favorite) and steak skewers served over coconut rice. Lookin’ for something light while you watch the game? We recommend the boneless wings with Benchmark whiskey sauce (the wings are cut and breaded in house). While you won’t find any blended beverages at Benchmark (no complaints here), they have pretty much everything else, including their house-infused moonshine. Let the fun begin!
