Running continuously for hours requires cardiovascular stamina, muscle strength, and the ability to block out any looming crippling thoughts. Think you can handle the challenge? Pay just $28, for the Baystate Half Marathon. On October 21st, spandex-clad racers will compete in one of the fastest half marathons around. The course starts and finishes at the beautiful Tsongas Center and continues along the scenic Merrimack River, with picturesque views of the Lowell Canals. The 13.1-mile run is a double loop using portions of the marathon course. Before race day all registrants are encouraged to fuel their muscles at the free pasta dinner, held at Lowell High School. Registration includes a long-sleeved t-shirt and finisher’s medal. After crossing the finish line athletes can celebrate their accomplishment on the grounds of the Tsongas Center. The top men and women in each age division and top three overall will be awarded with a personalized award plaque and a year’s worth of bragging rights.
