Description

Attend the first three plays of the Seattle Repertory Theatre's 2012-13 season with this ticket package. First, enjoy the world premiere of Cheryl L. West's musical "Pullman Porter Blues". It's 1937, and three generations of African-American train porters are hard at work on the luxurious Panama Limited train on the night Joe Louis boxes his way to a world title. Midwest blues songs flavor their journey as the porters confront dark secrets from their past and tough truths about their future together. Next is Tennessee Williams' haunting, semi-autobiographical masterpiece "The Glass Menagerie" at the Leo K. Theatre. The drama centers on a family -- the devoted but overbearing matriarch Amanda Wingfield, her poet son Tom and his sickly and extremely shy sister Laura -- struggling to find happiness in their dingy St. Louis apartment during the Depression. "Inspecting Carol", a comedy written by Tony-winning theater director Daniel J. Sullivan, is set in the Midwest, where a regional theater company is gearing up for their annual production of "A Christmas Carol". With their funding about to be cut, they must convince a government inspector that they are deserving of an arts endowment, an attempt that results in an outlandish "modernization" of the tale. You'll also enjoy subscription perks like ticket exchange flexibility, virtual concierge, lost ticket replacement, a restaurant discount card, beverage coupons and more.
