Australian Bakery Cafe Coupons and Deals
Description
Scout Notes:Assigning a dollar value to authenticity is nigh impossible. Unless, of course, you're venturing into the A's premier Aussie hangout, where you'll find equally legit fare (and accents) at I-can't-believe-it's-legit prices. Owned and operated by three friends (that come from the land down under), it doesn't get much more authentic than Australian Bakery Cafe in Marietta. Mark, Neville and Wendy all hail from the same small Aussie town – they eventually made their way to this (not-so-small) city, and opened shop (real Aussies call it a Hot Bake) in 2001. Not only is it Atlanta's destination for Australian cuisine, the Bakery is the original spot for Americans to find real-deal Australian meat pies. Yep. Meat pies. Never heard of 'em, you say? Made from Australian imported ingredients, by imported Australians – these crust-swaddled vessels come in 22 variations, each with a pastry top as flaky as the next. They, like everything else the Bakery serves, are fresh, baked daily, and all house made. However unlikely, if a meat pie doesn't strike your fancy, perhaps a light and delicate Pavlova will do the trick. This meringue + fresh cream + strawberry concoction is their unofficial national dessert, the apple pie of Australia, if you will. (We will.) But Australian Bakery Cafe isn't just churning out some of the best sweets and savories this side of the equator. They're offering us the chance to experience a real Aussie Hot Bake, and a little piece of down under, minus the twenty hour flight. While you wait for your victuals – a little grocery section on one wall of this cozy, but not cramped, space offers some interesting imported goods for perusal. And if you're curious about anything – the authentically friendly faces behind the counter are happy to help. You may even request, as one customer did, to know which sauces are: "hot, but not stinkin' hot." Sound dandy? Pop in and take a gander – today's your lucky (g')day, mate.
