Audubon Naturalist Society Camps are designed to nurture outdoor discovery, exploration, and celebration of nature. The Rust Nature Sanctuary contains mature woods and meadows, a pond and a wetland that provide habitat for a variety of animals, including birds,foxes, salamanders and turtles. Open lawns provide activity space and well maintained nature trails permit safe nature exploration. There is also a children’s playtrail; an exciting hands-on nature experience including an eagles nest, mulch mountain and stump playground. Non-venomous snakes eat venomous snakes, and a turtle’s favorite food may surprise you! Learn about these and more as we creep into the exciting world of reptiles and other cold-blooded critters. August 13th - 17th from 9am - 12noon - Science Wizardry Erupting volcanoes, oozing slime and dancing bubbles: we cover it all in this fun, hands-on science camp. This is a camp full of experiments,creations and make-believe. We will also go outside to investigate nature’s most exciting science concoctions. July 9th - 13th from 9am - 3pm - Digging in the Dirt Future paleontologists, archeologists and anthropologists: this camp is for you - as well as kids who just love to dig in the dirt! In this camp they’ll explore the evidence of the past by conducting an on-site dig and examining fossils and artifacts of the past. July 23rd - 27th from 9am - 3pm - Mythical Creatures Reality and fiction collide in this popular camp! Each day they will examine a famous mythical creature, such as the Phoenix or Dragon, and then they will investigate the real animal on which the creature was based. Tales and stories, creative art projects, and outdoor explorations will complement our adventure into nature’s mythical world. August 6th - 10th from 9am - 3pm - Super Sleuths Join the ranks of forensic investigators in this exciting camp. They will learn about the science of evidence collecting and interpretation as we follow clues to solve natural and human mysteries. They will learn about animal tracks and signs, fingerprints, and trace evidence. Their skills will be tested out in the field and in their camper designed crime lab.
