Your child's the resident sculptor of the playground, making everything from mud pies to, well, mud cakes. Help your tactile tyke try a new spin on sculpting with today's deal from Art For Kids: three Introduction to Clay classes for $30 (regularly $60). These one-hour classes are held Saturday and Sunday mornings and early afternoons throughout the summer at the Mission Hills studio. Open to pre-K through eighth grade students, these classes will provide an age-appropriate introduction to wonderfully soft, oozy, maleable clay. In addition to being a fun activity that promotes creativity and imagination, working with clay can help hone kids' fine motor skills as they use small tools and pottery wheels. Your petite potter will make a piece, glaze, and fire it in the kiln for a creation that'll last far longer than a mud pie.
