While that second part might be more a personal issue, helping out with first category is Anthi's Greek Food, a cozy little shop tucked away on the UWS serving up delicious homemade Greek food stuffs for on the go locals. Starting out helping his family run three gourmet Greek shops on the UES, owner Paul has branched out with his own little shop (but still adhering to family recipes). Perfect for a quick yet deliciously healthy lunch are their Greek wraps, salads, and sandwiches which are an awesome alternative to fast food. And if you're not in the mood for cooking dinner, pop in on your way home from work for a great alternative like Spinach Pie, freshly made Moussaka (layered eggplant with spiced meat filling), or a classic Baklava for dessert. They're also whipping up fresh dips and spreads that are great with anything, and even have a few shelves of Greek inspired sundries for the bold and curious. And while it might be easy to discover a favorite new dish here, don't be surprised to not see it on a second visit. They mix up their menus on a regular basis to keep in touch with the seasons, and just to keep things interesting. So while Anthi's may not be able to calm your sense of urgency in getting somewhere else, at least you'll have some good food with you when you finally get there.
