This coed youth camp offerers Art all day long! Projects including watercolor, pastel, traditional drawing techniques, sculpture, portraits, animals, and “plein air” drawing and painting. Students will be divided into groups according to age and experience. Ages can range from 9 years old to 17. This camp is for those people who wish “Art Class” was the only subject you had to take in school. Beginning and advanced students are welcome! Concepts will be presented in Group lessons followed by individual and group projects. Classes will be held in the newly renovated fine art studios of Smith Hall on the campus of The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland. An Average Day at Art Camp: 9:00-11:30 Students are divided into two groups and participate in a morning composition exercise followed by a lesson on the principles of classical drawing and construction. 11:30-12:30 Recess and lunch! 12:30-3:00 Students participate in a short afternoon lesson where they are introduced to unfamiliar mediums such as watercolor, printmaking, and fine pastel. The rest of class is spent working on individual projects that promote artistic exploration and experimentation. Note: There will be a mandatory pizza party on the Friday of each week.
