These aren't your parents's summer camps -- let your kids explore video making, film makeup, and animation when you sign them up for one of the camps at the Austin Film and Art Academy: • $125 ($250 value) for a beginning photography camp for ages 9-12 • $125 ($250 value) for a stop-gap animation camp for ages 7-12 • $125 ($250 value) for a claymation camp for ages 7-12 • $175 ($350 value) for an SFX makeup camp for ages 13-17 The beginning photography camp covers all the basics -- framing, subject matter, shadows, lights, composition, and more -- and students will leave with a full portfolio of photos. The stop-gap animation camp works with Legos to create a short stop-gap film. Students will script, shoot, and edit the film and leave with a copy of it. The claymation camp puts students to work with modeling clay as they script, sculpt, and shoot an animated film. All students will leave with a copy of their movie. In the SFX makeup camp, students will learn professional makeup tricks of the trade from industry pros. Participants will learn horror film makeup, sugar glass, and other techniques and will leave camp with their own kit. All camps are held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the date of your choice: June 10-13, June 17-20, June 24-27, July 8-11, July 15-18, July 22-25, or July 29-August 1.
